Learn how to use the snapping tools, and the difference in keys when using an Apple computer and a Windows computer.
How To Use The Snapping Tools.
- From within the map editor, the Paddock Toolbox window on the right of the screen - Select either ‘Create’ or ‘Edit’.
- Select the ‘Instructions’ tab at the top of the map.
- Here you will see instructions for the snapping tools, however the keys for an apple computer are slightly different.

WINDOWS:
- Hold the SHIFT key to snap to the nearest corner.
- Hold the CONTROL key to snap to the nearest line.

APPLE:
- Hold the SHIFT key to snap to the nearest corner.
- Hold the COMMAND key to snap to the nearest line.

WINDOWS:
- Left click to place your point.
What These Tools Do.
- SHIFT KEY: Holding the shift key will snap to the nearest corner of an existing paddock. You can then left click to place a point here.
- CONTROL/COMMAND KEY: Holding this key will snap to the nearest line/ boundary on an existing paddock.
Importance Of Using The Snapping Tools.
- Resolution will allow a 1% overlap with an existing paddock, however we recommend having no overlap whatsoever, use these tools to ensure this.
- If your paddock has more than 1% overlap with another paddock, it will cause a validation error when you try to “Validate and Save Changes”, which will not allow your map to be validated until this errors are rectified.
- Ensuring you use these tools for precision and accuracy when creating and editing your farms map will allow you to “Validate and Save Changes” successfully.
