Below we will explain the steps to successfully create a new paddock. The permission levels required and how to access map editor instructions are in the previous lessons.

Navigation and set up.

  1. From the paddock toolbox window. Select ‘Create’
  2. Zoom in on the map to the area you wish to create a new paddock.
  3. Select the ‘Instructions’ tab for instructions and tips in creating your paddock.

Drawing The New Paddock.

  1. Zoom into the map for precision and left click to set a starting point.
  2. Continue to left click around the map to set the boundary lines for your paddock.
    1. Shift key: Hold down the shift key to snap to the nearest corner. Whilst holding the shift key left click to set a point there.
    2. Control key: Hold down the control key to snap to the paddock boundary line. Whilst holding the control key left click to set a point there.
    3. Right click: Right clicking a point will delete that point.
    4. Click and drag: To move a point, click and drag it into a new position.
    5. Overlap: Be sure to use the instructions tab and tools available to ensure there is no paddock overlap with an existing paddock. Resolution will allow up to a 1% overlap when you attempt to validate and save your changes, however for precision and accuracy we recommend having no overlaps.
  3. To complete your paddock after mapping it out, either select your start point once more or select ‘Finish Drawing’.

Name, Colour, Effective Area And Saving Paddock.

  1. Add a name for the paddock. This will appear on the map, you can click and drag the paddock name to reposition it. This must stay within the paddock boundary you just created.
  2. Select ‘Select Colour’. Choose a colour, if you select ‘Custom’ there are more options available.
  3. If the effective area is less than the total area (displayed) then you can adjust this number.
  4. Select ‘Save’ once you are happy.

Validate And Save Changes.

  • After creating your new paddocks, you need to validate and save your changes.
  • Pro Tip: We recommend only validating and saving your changes made to the map once at the end, after all your changes have been made.
  • To do so, select ‘Validate & Save Changes’.
  • Select ‘Save Changes’ to confirm.
  • Users will then need to sync the app for these changes to be visible.

Splitting Paddocks.

  • If you are wanting to split an existing paddock, you cannot simply create a new paddock over the top. Please visit this lesson here:
